Australia’s best landscapes series: The Coral Coast

This fly/drive holiday will immerse you in two World Heritage-listed areas along Western Australia's Coral Coast.

Take one of the regular services and fly from Perth to Learmonth Airport. Start your drive journey by exploring Exmouth, the gateway to the unspoilt beaches and marine diversity of Ningaloo Reef. Nearby, Cape Range National Park features canyons, limestone ranges and spectacular gorges perfect for four-wheel driving.

Swim with giant whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef or with huge manta rays year round in Coral Bay. Head south to explore the rugged coastal areas of Gnaraloo Bay and Red Bluff at the southern end of the Ningaloo World Heritage area and see the spectacular blowholes.

Seventy kilometres south is Carnarvon where you can walk along the One Mile Jetty, sample the fresh flavours at local mango and banana plantations or follow the Gascoyne Food Trail and taste its irresistible local offerings. Continue south and follow the interpretive signage along the Shark Bay World Heritage Drive. Stop in at Monkey Mia (be one of the few lucky people selected to feed the dolphins), the Peron Heritage Precinct, Little Lagoon, the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery and Visitor Centre, Eagle Bluff, Shell Beach and Hamelin Pool stromatolites before heading back up the coast.
