Andaz Liverpool Street London has unveiled an inventive ‘Winter Club Sandwich’, designed exclusively for the hotel by food designer Linda Monique in collaboration with the Andaz’s pastry chef, Joseph Wagenaar.
The hotel’s latest seasonal creation is a mind-bending sweet take on a savoury hotel classic and will be available at the hotel’s classy 1901 Restaurant from 01 January until 31 March 2013.
The idea for the winter club collaboration comes after the success and rave reviews of the hotel's ‘Eggcentric’ installation during London Design Festival and September’s ‘Scrap Lab’ sustainable dinners, also created by Monique for the Andaz.
The winter club is a fun alternative to the traditional afternoon tea experience, using seasonal, complimentary and comforting flavours of spiced poached pears, slow roasted Braeburn apples, caramel curd, Earl Grey tea mayonnaise, lemon 'fried egg' and cinnamon fries.
It’s great as a sweet afternoon tea pick-me-up with a glass of champagne or a unique pudding following dinner.
If you’re after the full afternoon tea experience, the Andaz’s newly launched festive afternoon tea is also a winner. For sandwiches, you can look forward to honey glazed turkey and mustard, Stilton cream and walnut, and Carpaccio salmon and beetroot, served alongside shrimp cocktail and game and Guinness pie.
The scones are great - with plenty of butter, clotted cream and a variety of sweet preserves - and if that’s not enough, the pastries include mini mince pies, ginger bread, chocolate Yule log, white chocolate cranberry and pistachio mendiant, and Christmas pudding macaroons with a dusting of pictachio.
There’s the option to enjoy all of this with seasonally themed cocktails, Veuve champagne or a tightly edited choice of fine teas.
Andaz Liverpool Street is an east-end 5-star boutique hotel with a wide range of dining and drinking options at the hotel’s five restaurants and bars.
