The Thief, Oslo, Norway

The Thief is Oslo’s first waterfront hotel. The new design hotel will steal you away from the everyday as part of Oslo’s new cultural precinct, with great views of the fjord and one of Scandinavia’s most exciting urban renewal projects.

Located between the iconic Astrup Fearnley Museum, the Oslofjord and the canals of Tjuvholmen Island, the area is a far cry from its 18th century incarnation, when it was home to thieves, prostitutes and shady affairs – hence the hotel’s unique name.

Today the island is being taken over by the finest contemporary art, architecture and gastronomy and The Thief will reflect the avant-garde spirit of its surroundings.

Inside the hotel, distinguished modern art will sit alongside work by upcoming artists, all handpicked by a world-class curator. Furniture by design greats will be mixed with work from upcoming Norwegian designers, while video art-on-demand will be another exclusive highlight.

With sustainability in mind, The Thief will not only employ clever solutions to reduce energy, water and waste, but will also serve up local and organic ingredients at its sophisticated restaurant Fru K, offering a contemporary take on classic Norwegian cuisine.

Other standouts will include a hotel boat to explore the Oslofjord, smart phones enabled as room keys and custom made caviar.
