Opium is centrally located on the exclusive island of Mustique, a small enclave that forms part of the West Indian archipelago of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Opium occupies a prime hilltop position, with acres of lush island vegetation creating a natural canopy that ensures round-the-clock solitude and privacy. With sumptuous views of the ocean and wide blue skies, it is a glorious hideaway for large groups seeking a tranquil escape. Guests are required to fly into neighbouring St. Lucia or Barbados before taking a connecting flight in a Twin Otter aircraft to Mustique, which is just 30 minutes from St. Lucia or 45 minutes from Barbados.

Opium offers an incomparable sense of calmness. Entirely made from natural materials, the villa blends a laid-back beach aesthetic with Balinese-inspired influences. The tropical gardens, Koi ponds and water features all add to the air of serenity that engulfs this beguiling retreat. The seven king-size bedrooms with en suite bathrooms boast private terraces with sprawling vistas, and a further four bedrooms can be found dotted across two surrounding guesthouses. Each of these comes with its own outdoor Jacuzzi, and one of the guest cottages also has its own pool. The impressive 73-foot swimming pool that adorns the front terrace provides a natural focal point for group activities. There’s also plenty for children to do – a well-equipped games room and home cinema will ensure they never get bored.

Time seems to stand still in this secluded corner of Mustique and you’re free to soak in the glorious ambience of relaxed island living. Reclaim some head space in the private yoga studio or kick back with a refreshing cocktail on the roof tower, as you admire the wild expanse of greenery that curves down to the beach. You and your guests can feast on an informal dinner in the enchanting outdoor dining tent, cooked and served by your private chef and butler. If you want more in the way of adventure, explore the local vicinity in your very own Kawasaki Mule utility vehicle, discover the Mustique shoreline in a glass-bottomed canoe, or marvel at the underwater beauty of the warm, inviting shoreline with a spot of scuba diving.
