The new Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht Hotel has opened in Amsterdam’s lively Jordaan district. Built in a former public library on Prince's Canal, the 122-room hotel is sure to inject some style and character into the Amsterdam’s hotel scene.
With adventurous design from local architect and designer Marcel Wanders, the Andaz reflects a modern view of Dutch history and local culture through the video art on the walls, the books on the shelves, and the food in the restaurant.
Throughout the hotel, Wanders played with various sources of inspiration, integrating the heritage of the hotel surroundings (including the Golden Age, Dutch Delft blue, tulips and the color orange) and the knowledge of the books once housed in the former Public Library.
When you arrive you’ll be met by an Andaz host and invited to have a drink in the lounge while you check in via handheld tablet, or simply en-route to your artistically inspired, stylish room.
The hotel is located near “Nine Streets” in a charming neighborhood filled with Amsterdam’s main art galleries, unique specialty shops, trendy fashion boutiques, and stylish restaurants. Depending on the location of your room, you’ll enjoy impeccable views, either of the imaginative observatory, the landscaped garden, or the UNSESCO protected Prinsengracht canal.
The intimate Bluespoon Bar is built in the style of a typical Amsterdam café, with an elegant ‘speakeasy’ atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to try typical Dutch food or take a seat at the large communal bar table and watch the professional bartenders craft cocktails from three different eras - pre-Prohibition, Prohibition, and post-Prohibition — carrying great names, such as “One Minute Delft Blue” and “Lucky Librarian.”
