Riviera Review: Luxury Alang Villa Cannes
If the south of France is synonymous with one thing, it is opulence. Few towns make this more abundantly clear than Cannes - and no villa better exemplifies this than the luxury Alang Villa Cannes.
Depending on when you visit there’s every chance you could be rubbing shoulders with the stars at the world famous film festival or brushing up on the latest media trends at Cannes Lions. Either way, a discerning clientele have long favoured this chic city, and as such it was without surprise that we arrived at our temporary home from home to find the place looking truly exquisite.
Situated in La Californie, the most prestigious area of Cannes, the first thing that’s impossible to miss is the stunning sea view. Perched on a hilltop surrounded by thick greenery, in the distance lies the city itself with its rosy Mediterranean roofs. Even more striking perhaps, is the cobalt blue of the water- close enough to make you yearn for a dip.
Instead, we opted for a splash in the heated 30m infinity pool, which finishes as the horizon begins - offering a fantastic vista of the entire area. Indeed, it’s difficult to imagine a more relaxing place to swim, although not nearly as difficult as it was removing ourselves from the water in order to go and do something. That said, our next activity only involved a few steps back into the villa in order to begin a game of billiards whilst watching a movie on the in-house cinema screen.
Those after some outdoor action won’t find themselves short for things to do either. The beach is within easy reach by car, or even on foot if you’re keen on walking. Closer to the property, you’ll enjoy four acres of wonderfully manicured gardens, home to a wealth of tropical vegetation, affording ample opportunity to soak in the peace and tranquillity this corner of the Riviera offers.
Over seven blissful days, we discovered secluded bays nearby, revelled in the bright lights of Cannes itself, and all struggled to get out of bed - such was the level of comfort in our suites. By night, we lounged in the swim up bar with a view of the cinema screen, whilst our resident chef more than lived up to his reputation for gastronomic excellence in the kitchen.
Sheer opulence, serenity, natural beauty and luxury, all in one decadent address; nothing could be more fitting of such a glamorous location.
