Sofitel Luxury Hotels has announced the opening of new Bangkok hotel Sofitel So Bangkok on 28 February, the second Sofitel So label address after Sofitel So Mauritius.
The hotels in this label share a strong focus on design and are all created by celebrated designers, like Kenzo Takada for Sofitel So Mauritius.
With designs led by Christian Lacroix and Apple® products featured in each room, So Bangkok showcases innovative technology and unites it with culture, fashion and taste.
Situated close to the business district and Lumpini Park, Sofitel So Bangkok benefits from a privileged location in a lively area right in the centre of town, combining innovative design and high quality service.
So Bangkok is hoping to become Bangkok’s trendy new ‘place-to-be’, with an identity that is totally unique on the market.

Today Sofitel has three new hotels in Bangkok: Sofitel So Bangkok, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit (which is about to open) and the current Bangkok Sofitel Bangkok Silom.
Award-winning Thai architect Smith Obayawat and five well-known Thai interior designers teamed up with Maurice Lacroix to make Sofitel So Bangkok a true feat of design and innovation.
Lacroix was entrusted with the artistic direction of the hotel and placed a great emphasis on showcasing the work of other designers with a French touch, while adding originality and harmony.
He also participated in the creation of the hotel’s ‘tree of life’ emblem and completely redecorated the top floor club lounge with two vast frescos, as well as designing the staff uniforms.
The décor of the hotel’s 238 guestrooms and suites is based on the elements of water, earth, wood and metal, while the restaurant embodies the element of fire.
Guestrooms also feature state-of-the-art amenities, each fitted with Apple mac minis, making the Sofitel So Bangkok a stand out.
Water room The feature of this design by Pongthep Sagulku is a bathtub with a direct view of Bangkok
Earth room Created by Vitoon Kunalungkarn in homage to ‘Mother Nature’, the walls are hung with primitive Thai paintings.
Wood room Designed by Nithi Sthapitanonda, this is a serene and tranquil refuge from the stress and bustle of the city.
Metal room Somchai Jongsaeng’s gateway to a world that is totally zen, this room is pure and simple in shades of white and metal.
Of the hotel’s various bars and restaurants, the ‘Red Oven’ by French brand Molteni is a perfect illustration of the element fire, built around a handsome and imposing red oven, offering traditional cuisine in full view of diners.
The ‘Park Society Restaurant & Bar’ is a magical place on the hotel rooftop with a series of elegant cabanas and stunning view of the city of Bangkok.
