Domaine de la Drome is located on the edge a small village in the heart of the Drome department of France and enjoys wonderful views of the attractive rolling landscape with the imposing Trois Becs mountain range in the distance. Whilst the clear running waters of the river Drome, which is loved by canoeists and kayakers, is just 100 metres from the front gates of the property. The closest town is Crest, some 10 minutes’ drive away, with its inviting bars, restaurants, one of which is Michelin starred, narrow medieval streets running close to the river and castle ruins, the keep of which dominates the surrounding countryside; well worth a visit or three.

The landscaped gardens of the Domaine of over 3 hectares include: a profusion of mature trees, shrubs, plants, a rolling lawn, a small ornamental lake complete with dingy for those of a nautical disposition and a child secure pool with loungers. Whilst to the front of the property there is a BBQ area with tables and chairs for outside dining. There is a volleyball/badminton court for those who prefer more robust forms of entertainment.

The main house or original farmhouse, which is called the Loggia includes all the common parts; a living room, a large dining room, an Orangerie, a fully equipped professional kitchen, 5 bedrooms all en-suite, and the discreet and charming owners’ apartment. It is decorated in a simple very welcoming and comfortable way with original features, including vaulted ceilings and antiques mixed with contemporary furnishings.

There is large building to the rear of the Loggia, which used to house the silk farm in years gone by and has now been converted to accommodate 11 bedrooms, all of which have been very tastefully decorated and furnished in an understated contemporary style.
